Getting the perfect sun-kissed glow doesn’t start when you step into the tanning booth... It starts before your appointment.
Proper prep helps your spray tan apply evenly, last longer, and fade more naturally. Here are the key steps to set yourself up for tanning success.

Remove dead skin cells and old tan remnants by exfoliating 24–48 hours before your appointment. Use an oil-free scrub or exfoliating mitt and focus on dry areas such as elbows, knees, and ankles. This helps the tan adhere evenly and improves longevity without over-scrubbing or irritating the skin.

Hair removal too close to the appointment can lead to open pores and uneven colour absorption.
Waxing should be done 24–48 hours prior.
Shaving is best done the night before.
These timings allow the skin to settle and reduce irritation for a smoother tan result.

Well-hydrated skin holds a tan better, but heavy products can create barriers.
Moisturise daily in the days leading up to your tan.
Avoid moisturiser, oils, deodorant, sunscreen, and perfume on the day of the appointment.

On the day of your appointment, shower with a gentle, oil-free cleanser and avoid applying makeup, perfume, deodorant, sunscreen, or creams. Clean skin allows for consistent absorption and even development.

Opt for loose, dark clothing after your tan to prevent rubbing, streaking, or marks from tight garments. Avoid bras or fitted clothing immediately post-tan where possible. Choose footwear that will not rub across the tops of the feet.

For special occasions such as weddings, photoshoots, or holidays, book your spray tan 1–2 days before the event. This ensures full development and a natural finish suited to your skin tone.
Pre-tan prep is simple but makes a significant difference in your results. Investing in proper preparation leads to smoother application, longer wear, and a more even fade.
